KATHY WEIDNER ZOEHFELD (Rocks and Minerals) is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, and University of Michigan Ann Arbor where she decided to put her science degrees to work by writing nonfiction books for kids. Great book that combines four other Nat Geo titles in one book. This is a fun way to explore some basic topics about how Earth was formed and what it’s made of. My five-year-old especially loves the chapter on the kinds of rock that our planet is made of. Great pictures, simple text, vocabulary call-out boxes and th occasional corny joke keep the text interesting for young readers.
We love this book as well as all the others like it. They’re full of great facts, amazing pictures, and cute little jokes. These are littles side notes “facts†on most pages reiterating specifics about each individual book as well. We love that each book is divided into sections about about a different animal/type. These are all a great addition to any home library for the animal lover in your family! We use this as part of our homeschool library for the little ones to take control of their own learning environment.
Even I learned some facts for it though I don't think the reading levels are accurate
My 4 year old loves National Geographic Kids books. This one has a great combination of subjects.

My kids are fighting to have it ... The info in these small booklets is easy to understand .. They know more than me now .. It's beautiful ..
My 7-year-old loves it. He's very interested in how things work, science, earth, space, etc... This book held his attention for awhile.
My daughter has expressed great interest in science so I thought this book would be good for her since it covers 4 different subjects
