He notes so many clues as he finds some leave on the yacht.Story also follows the Russians who are being followed. Such explicit details as they carry out their mission. Every thing has been thought about and the plan is in action.Love all the technical terms and new words and how it all goes, not planned as they wanted it to go. Among the mayhem with the threat of nuclear war blowing up NYC on sept 12, there is also marital problems that will probably continue in the next book.Like meaning of the title all the action and adventure.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

OK. So I don't usually do reviews but after finishing Radiant Angel I need to vent. As many other have pointed out, this is not the best work Mr. DeMille has done. This is not the DeMille who brought us Charm School, or Word of Honor, or The General's Daughter. And this is by far the worst John Corey book in the series way below Corey Classics like the The Lions Game and Night Fall. It is not even a match for The Panther which was not my favorite Corey book. If this book was a movie, it would be a straight-to-dvd or made-for-tv production and feels that way. Perhaps the influence of his son who is a screen writer? It is fairly short (not that long pages make a better book), almost like an extended "short story", it feels rushed, and lacks depth of characters and plot. John Corey himself is not himself and feels a little to tried and tired (and this is from someone who loves John). The romantic liaison is out of place and also tired and the unnecessary made-up side plot line about the possible infidelity of Kate Manfield seems like a week argument to allow for the possible attraction and flirting between John and his new much-younger partner. I waited a long time for the latest Corey episode and even pre-ordered the book in anticipation, in the end, I felt like I just watched another installment of the "Die Hard" series with John Corey in the place of Bruce Willis. For now I will go back and re-read the DeMille classics and hope that the next book lives up to its predecessors.

I am a huge, huge fan of Nelson DeMille. I've read almost every book he ever wrote at least 5 times or more. Unfortunately, I am very upset and disappointed with Radiant Angel. I can't believe I added it to my Kindle only to delete it. What a waste of money. First, you don't just dissolve a beautiful love story like John and Kate had in one tiny paragraph at the end of the book. You don't make John out to be some horrible person who doesn't warn Kate not to fly to New York when he thinks there might be a catastrophe in the City. It was unbelievable and ridiculous, almost like Nelson DeMille didn't write it. He rushed through the end like the house was on fire and he had to get it done before it burned down. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Mr. DeMille. I respect you so much. Please undo this. Maybe say the book was a bad dream and you never meant to publish it. I cannot imagine a true fan saying they liked it. I'm also disappointed in your Assistants and your Agent for letting this be published. I still love you to pieces.....but I am perplexed. Flofo

Like many others, I've been a Nelson Demille fan for a long time; and been a John Corey fan since Plum Island captivated me into reading all night until I finished. But this book was a complete waste of time. The plot was absolutely stupid; I mean, come on Nelson (spoiler alert here): An ICEBREAKER conveniently shows up in New York harbor to save the day??? Add to such sloppiness the fact that here's Corey in a dead end job, with no mention of his pension and the fact that he was a college teacher? Or his wife just somehow waltzes off to D.C. with the same guy that almost got them both killed? And the John / Kate story disintegrates in the space of a single paragraph at the end of the book?If this is what Demille is going to continue phoning in? I'm done. It's like he's trying to be a (pretty poor) imitation of Robert Parker and he's trying to turn John Corey into a (pathetically bad) copy of Spenser. I'll have to think long and hard before shelling out any $$ for his next installment.

I really liked the fast pace if this book. It definitely moved along. I do get concerned with Corey's blatant disregard for procedure and respect for authority. It gets to a point where it is hard to believe. Even in a "Radiant Angel" situation as this book provides. But it does make for good story telling. I guess Corey just needs to go into business for himself and be a private eye so he doesn't have a boss to worry about. Also I found the "romance" aspect of the book a little cliche and "goopie." I don't buy Corey's new romance interest, nor his current wife being interested in FBI boss Tom Walsh. Oooh and Buck would meet his maker if that were me. Sorry you can't try to end my boy John Corey and just get a pass, especially when you try to take out Paul Brenner as well.Finally I feel like the end if the book was rushed and that in lack of something more origional even if not as most DeMille went....cheap. To me it feels like reading a really great story and then you get to the end and the author makes the main character "wake up" and it was "all a dream."I guess this was my least favorite of the John Corey novels. But I still have plenty of resepct for DeMille.

This book is a great self-help book. When I read e-books, I highlight the most meaningful parts in pink. I had many, many pink highlights in this book. I tend to have a problem with procrastination, and this book has already helped me to get started with tasks I need to do and stay with the tasks without getting side-tracked. I am already reaping the results of completing my tasks. It gives me a sense of pride and satisfaction. I feel so good about my accomplishments that I want to continue this feeling by continuing to overcome procrastination. If I ever start to lapse, I will read this book again.

I really enjoyed this book. It helped me see why we tend to hold ourselves back. It helped me understand what needs to be done to make progress which stood with me even after reading this book. Chapter 5 was my favorite because it’s definitely something I’ve been guilty of and am working on improving. Truly a great purchase, very helpful, and highly recommend it!

"Mexico, a resting place for the rainbow" writes essayist Elena Poniatowska in this book centered on the subject of color. What makes the wonderful photographs by Amanda Holmes special and interesting is her way of seeing through the camera lens...in close-ups and unique angles. Categorized into themes, chapter # 1 is "The New World", with the fabulous wall paintings at Cacaxtla and Teotihuacan. # 2: "People of the Sun" focuses on some beautiful churches, as well as a few walls and doors. # 3: "A Sky Blue Balcony", has close-ups of brilliantly hued walls, balconies and building details. # 4: "The Brown Madonna", has everything from church niches to marketplace candies and more muli-colored walls. # 5: "The Space of Light", on modern Mexican architecture, and the colors that bring so much warmth to its clean, stark lines...with some of my favorite combinations, like apple green and bright pink...and that deep yellow that contrasts so well with the blues and aquas.The essays that are with these photographs are interesting and strangely poetic. At first I found the writing somewhat peculiar, then realized it's translated from the Spanish (by Aurora Camacho de Schmidt) in an almost literal manner...but once you get into the rhythm of it, is excellent.This hardback edition seems bigger than 160 pages because of its weight, with good quality thick pages, it's a sturdy volume. This book is much more about color than it is about Mexico, and for those of us who love color, it's a satisfying volume.

Gorgeous photos; reminded me of Guanajuato, surprises turning every corner; colors provided inspiration for re-painting the interior of our Texas house.

This is a great picture book illustrating the use of color in Mexican architecture and decorating.

Boring!

Oh, this book was fun to look at. Looking at the ever so daring colored homes brings a sence of jealousy..Why can't I do that :-)but this book is for entertaining, not for educating. It has lovely photos, great colors of bulidings and walls. Text does accompany the photos mind you, if gives you a brief background to the style, but When you are going to paint your porch orange, and your stairs blue, and your walls exterior fushia, do you need an explaination?? Have some fun!

I enjoyed reading Pirate Hunters. I admit that the first section of the book was a bit frustrating for me. The crew uses all of their high tech equipment looking for a sunken pirate ship, but time and again, come up empty handed. The dashing here and there for nothing wasn't inspiring me. Then the book takes a change. When John Chatterton tires of looking in the same areas for his sunken pirate ship ran by merchant captain turned rogue pirate, Joseph Bannister, he begins to wonder what Bannister was like as a person. This venture changes the entire demeanor of the book and Robert Kurson begins to explore hunters, John Chatterton and John Mattera and their lives as well.Treasure hunting is a tough business. It can ruin lives, marriages and finances-all of which Chatterton and Mattera experienced. As far as pirates, I loved reading about Bannister, and the Pirate Code. If you didn't surrender to a pirate, they could invent all sorts of punishment, and they made sure a few survivors lived to tell the tale to strike fear in ordinary folks and other seafaring people. For me the second half of the book was really interesting. Though John Barrister witnessed the deaths of nine people while hunting, he lived for it. As his age advances, the urge to find Bannister's sunken treasure ship is an obsession and he believes he almost knows the 17th century man. With laws closing in on treasure hunters and people infringing on the territory. time is running out for the treasure hunters trying to find the rarest of the rare-an actual pirate ship on the bottom of the sea, untouched in centuries.I think most people will enjoy this robust tale of treasure and its hunters. It's kind of a fantasy for most people but for Chatterton and Mattera, it was just a way of life and it all makes a great tale.

This book is engaging, but it's no "Shadow Divers". For one thing, there's not much plot and the author had to sort of create a narrative and stick in bits of Pirate history to glue it all together. Then the two primary personalities come off pretty badly. One is portrayed as crazy-violent, the other as an obsessed ego-maniac. I guess it's all meant to paint a picture, but it's a little too much personal information for me. The book also ends abruptly, with 97% devoted to a fruitless search and 3% a quick summary of what they found.So although I enjoyed reading it, and made it through to the end. It will not be a keeper and is headed to a used book store shortly.BTW, if you have not read "Shadow Divers", for Pete's Sake go get a copy now! Now that was an extraordinary tale.

I read this book after having read Shadow Divers because I enjoy Robert Kurson's writing. This is an easy to read historical account and quiet interesting. However, not nearly as compelling ash Shadow Divers. There is a lot of back story on the main characters; however, the accounting of the actual discovery of the sunken pirate vessel seems almost an afterthought in places. I would have appreciated more about the actual salvage and what they found. The book sort gets to the find, and states "and then they salvaged.. the end" .In contrast, the background on pirate history was extremely fascinating and caused me to research piracy a bit more and read additional accounts of the 17th century pirates. Overall worth your time, but not as good as Shadow Divers.

I don't read a lot of nonfiction and when I do I want it to read as smoothly as fiction. This pretty much fit the bill, with an exciting account of seasoned treasure hunters / divers finding a wreck of a fairly obscure merchant-captain-turned-pirate, Joseph Bannister. The author went off on a multitude of tangents including in depth studies of the lives of the men searching for the ship (which were interesting but not terribly relevant), and I'd say the actual story focusing on the tactical search for the wreck only constituted about half the book. Also, without spoiling the ending, the main characters fly all over the place at great expense doing a ton of primary research, and then the biggest piece of the puzzle ends up being in a newly published book that you can buy on Amazon - that element had a feel of deus ex machina about it. But overall it was an enjoyable and quick read, and I did learn something about Bannister, the treasure hunting "business," and the dangerous techniques used in underwater recovery efforts. Would recommend.

I have enjoyed the collaboration between Kurson, Chatterton, Kohler and now Mattera. Shadow Divers is one on my favorite books. Now this one Pirate Hunters is another. I have two hobbies, diving and treasure hunting, and this second book encompasses both. It is amazing the product that can be created when professionals get together. I nearly finished this book in 2 days. I could not stop reading it. That would have been a record for me.

It was the title of this book that first captured my attention. The fact that the book is based on a true story made it even better! The quest for the Golden Fleece really comes to life in the book. The life of a pirate is described to the point of being able to picture the images in your mind’s eye. The sheer terror of running abreast of a pirate ship and crew causes your heart to beat faster. Clearly, this was not the career for the faint of heart! Sometimes, though, it was a career of necessity. The financial and emotional toll of the men and their families who searched for the Golden Fleece is clearly detailed. This book is about so much more than finding a ship or the treasure sometimes worth millions on it. It’s about doing those things that though you think might be impossible, drive you to the point of knowing who you really are and what you really value. You can’t put a price tag on that!

It is not the Three Little Pigs story that I remember, but given the versions I found online...it is one of the less violent/horrific/sad versions. I don't know where my daughter heard about the three little pigs, I don't recall us telling it to her, but she wanted it read at bed time. We went online to thinking it was a classic children's fairy tale, and having forgotten the ending to the little matchstick girl, or that other version of the three bears, well I ended up here. The artwork is good, the story is basically the bland version I remember, and the little one likes it. What more is needed.

Nice retelling perfect for a 2 year old . There are just the right amount of words here. Love the fate of the Big Bad Wolf who runs off with his tale ablaze.

Classic tale of how slow, careful, and thoughtful hard work pays off in the end, so much more so than unplanned, quick and easy action. Not much new in this version, except that the brothers are very close to one another.

My 3 y/o daughter makes us read this story to her nightly as they learned about the story at daycare and now she's obsessed. This version is perfect! It's the full general story with a happy ending and a non-scary wolf. Nice colorful pictures. I'd say it's perfect for a 3/4 year old!

Probably the favorite ebook of my granddaughter, and as a pre-reading 4-yr.-old, they are perfect for pulling out to distract her at appointments or restaurants. The writer was quite witty, too--a good version of the timeless tale.

This is the version I remember as a kid. I purchased it to read to my granddaughter. She loves the story too. The price for the kindle version is much less that the Disney version on kindle.
