It made my 23-year-old roommate STFU and stop fighting with her boyfriend. They would sit in their sleeping bag and concentrate to find Waldo, Walda, Odlaw, the wizard and that stupid dog. They would follow Waldo's adventures, learn to share and excercize their minds. Excellent gift for a hobo who lives in a tent with two other people, and who just needs some peace and quiet. Instant silence. The book is fun and is a funny work of art as well. Would recommend to anyone young and young at heart.

Always wanted this book as a child (born and raised poor and never had a shot at it) and so I bought it for myself for Christmas. My only complaint is that I finished finding Waldo in all the scenes in about fifteen minutes, and found the rest of the "can you find" to be equally easy. Should have tackled this book as a seven-year-old child rather than a 59-year-old man in a tinge of nostalgia. But nothing wrong with this book...for children. It did help get me through a rather lonesome Christmas day.

Some low resolution pages mar an otherwise amazing coloring book. I never knew I needed this in my life. Wonder if the UK version has higher quality printing. You shouldn't be able to see individual pixels!

I read some of the reviews after ordering this book...and it made me a bit nervous. Vampires? Happily, this is the same delightful book I remember, and I have loved sharing it with my grandsons. I have to admit the paperback version has a different "feel" to it. Waldo seems to fit best with a hardback book cracked open on a table, but that doesn't affect my rating. Beautiful and interesting scenes, looking at all the other characters is just as much fun as finding Waldo et. al.

I got this for my four year old because the Disney look n finds were too easy for her. While this is actually a great balance of challenging and fun for her, the content of the pictures in this book is a little disturbing for someone so little. I realize he's walking through history, but I shouldn't have to explain to someone so little why people are being burned at the stake, eaten by lions, etc, it's actually pretty graphic unfortunately

Wonderfully challenging. We have had it for about two months now and still can't locate Waldo on all the pages. I really like the challenge and it makes the book last longer. I would have been pretty disappointed in fact if we had been able to locate him on all the pages on the first day. Illustrations are beautiful and very very detailed. Each time I look at the pages, we discover new things that we missed previously. This book it great;

This is another book which is one in a series, one which is far more intricate and challenging than earlier ones, Parents with small children should start with the first WALDO books and move on to increasing levels of difficulty as the child ages. The object is to locate the real character Waldo amidst al the wanna-bees, pretend Waldos and other characters similarly dressed. The later books in the series, and this is definitely one of them, are full of jam-packed pages that parents and kids can work on together, for many years, with books of increasing difficulty. These are books which parent can use with their older children as well, and that can help keep up bonded relationships at times when they are growing closer to their peers.

They don't make them like they used to. This is a regular bound hard cover book. It will not hold up better or longer than any other hard bound book. Pictures are blurry compared to the original books.

I don't know about you, but when I was a little girl, I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. There was the influence of Disney, but there was also the influence of Prince William (this was obviously before he grew up and started to look a lot more like his dad). From what you see on the outside, as a young girl, being a princess looks wonderful. You're rich, famous, and you get to wear a tiara. As a 13 year-old, I was pretty sure I'd found my future.As it turns out, not so much. Also as it turns out, being royalty kind of sucks. There's plenty of speculation that Prince Harry's trouble in finding a steady girlfriend is (at least in some measure) the pressure of becoming a member of the royal family. As an adult, the idea of trading living under a microscope, with public interest in your private life extending not just to juicy stories, but to snooping on your phone and long-lens photography hoping to catch you taking off your top to tan more evenly, is a devil's bargain for getting to wear some pretty headgear once in a while.But as much as there are significant downsides to being royalty today, it used to be much worse, especially for women. Author Eleanor Herman details the very real drawbacks being a princess or a queen. Royal women weren't people, they were bargaining chips in international diplomacy. They were married off to princes and kings who were old and fat, who were impotent, who were gay. They were expected to tolerate their husband's infidelity without doing anything that would cast doubt on the true parentage of their children. Those children were frequently unceremoniously confiscated from them and raised according to the wishes of others. Their lush castles were drafty and dirty, and their expensive physicians were as likely to kill them as help them. Their access to funding was usually controlled by other people and so they were slaves to the whims of those who held the purse strings. They were often deprived of the company of those to whom they could speak their native languages...their ladies-in-waiting from their home countries could be dismissed without their consent and seeing their family members required long, complex negotiations that fell through more often than not.Some princesses and queens, though, didn't follow the rules. They took lovers at great risk to themselves...and even greater risks for the men in question. It is those women (and their men) who Herman's Sex with the Queen is about. After detailing how awful it actually was (and still is, on a certain level) to be a princess, Herman moves into the good stuff: dishy gossip. From the Tudor queens Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard all the way to Princess Diana (it's not just English queens, there are stories from all over Europe), we're regaled with tales of forbidden passion and courtly intrigue. It covers the expected subjects (the aforementioned Tudor queens, Marie Antoinette, Catherine the Great) as well as some lesser-known stories, like that of Sophia Dorothea of Celle and Queen Maria Francisca of Portugal. There's not a lot of substance here, it's mostly well-written soap opera, but it's fun and frothy and easy to read

This is history that you never learned in school. Not particularly titillating but quite an eye opener about goings on in the palaces of Europe and Russia. Imagine being set up to marry someone you dont know or actively come to dislike. What if he were a drooling idiot or gay or just not your cup of tea. Then ponder being stuck with that person, expected to have lots of children, not allowed friends or even people that speak your language around you and having many at court hate you. Welcome to life at court, jewels or not. You might get away with affairs but you could also lose your head. Some succulent stories in this book with all the details. A bit repetitious at times but it certainly gives one pause at envying the idle rich and rulers in times past.

I love this book. Even though i was familiar with most of the Queens discussed, I definitely learned new information. The author is a very good writer, lyrical, interesting, detailed and witty, without being vulgar or crass, which is rare for the subject matter. I liked the way the writer linked certain details and the way she connected seemingly unconnected events. I enjoyed the first book of this series, Sex with Kings, and I highly recommend it, but I think Sex with the Queen was a better-written book. Anyone that wants to learn more about European Kings, Queens and the people who loved them should read this series.

I read the reviews thinking this would be awesome. It was not as good as expected. Admittedly it is something I would have never picked out without the reviews. It is interesting in the sense it gives you an idea how queens were treated throughout the centuries and it ends with Princess Diana. It is a long book but the plus is the references take up about 15% of the book so it is not as long as it appears. I never read the Sex with the kings so this is a brand new thing for me. Seemed many enjoyed it.

History as it was really made,bawdy funny, and full of life. Think those old kings and queens were just stuffy, dusty ciphers? Open this book and find out how our ancestors did it. From sex to Peter the Great's wig, there's never a dull moment. I personally think this is better than Sex with Kings.

Don’t waste your money. Reading it is like reading People magazine. And I only bothered to tell you because the damned app won’t let me read anything else until I review it.

Man was I pleasantly surprised reading this series. This one though was by far the best. The main character is coming along nicely. The banter and war between Kharon and himself, plus his slowly coming of age and power keeps the story going. I’m am intrigued how this wraith power which is both blessing and curse (mostly curse as of now) is going to play out. The vantage of the good put into the bad guy role is always fun to see. Looking forward to how the main character is going to overcome his weaknesses and use the wraith crutch as a bonus.

I've enjoyed all the books in this series so far. The writing is very good and the story and characters are engaging.The only gripe I have is that while I'm following the author, I still wasn't notified when this latest book came out. I found it by accident. That was annoying.If the author happens to be reading this, I would humbly suggest writing the next volume quickly. I'm kind of really into this story and I don't want to wait 6 months for the next one. If you don't mind, that is. :)

The development of Ed, his friends, and the Haunt continue at a respectable pace. No large breaks in character personality. No large breaks the underlying rules set up. If you liked the previous two books, this book is a must. I am easily happy enough with the book to read the next one.

I’m still in love with the tale and the world. Everything is developing nicely. The only real drawbacks were the numerous misconjugations and word confusion that passed editing and required the reader to puzzle it out. My favorite was the man smuggling a chandelier in his jacket (should be candelabra). :-) I look forward to the next book!

First off I'd like to say I really enjoyed book 1 and 2, but this one was a struggle for me. The timeline was hazy I'm not sure if the events of this book took place over a week or a month. The first 50% of the book felt like a really long prologue setting up 1 battle. I ended up skipping alot of the book to get through it.

It was a good sequel to the series. Look forward to the next one. Wonder what he has in store for us next?

Love the story and the characters but found a number of incomplete or jumbled sentences towards the end that took me out of the great story (I had no difficulty diving back in, but some might). Looking forward to the next one!

Love the style of the worldbuilding. And the story blends magic and roleplaying elements like "experience points" and character sheets into a story showing realistic nuanced ideas, where the best moral ground is in a legal and religious middle ground. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Lord Wraith's rise!
