I am incredibly disappointed in this product. Firstly, who ever edited this book did not realize that they had the same exact song in here twice. Secondly, they should say that this book is with simplified accompaniments that include the melody in the piano line. Towards the end they stopped separating the vocals and the piano all together. I was expecting full accompaniments. As a musician, I am ashamed to say that I bought this.

Great to have the music! Great arrangements and very cool to be able to play some Billy Joel classics!

Not sure if Billy had a hand in the song selection, but it was obviously intended to accompany the co-released greatest hits album(s), containing some songs that just aren't up to scratch in comparison with others it left out.SCENES FROM A ITALIAN RESTAURANT is missing.I need make no more points.

It took awhile and kinda made me nervous but the seller asked me to be patient showed up to days after it was expected but it's in great shape for being a used music book and actually it gave me enough time to learn the basics of piano lessons and the songs because I bought the CD so I'm happy

Bought this book for my Mom who plays piano and always wants me to sing along. It would really be better if these publications were in the black spiral binding so that they stay on the right page better. Most of the songs require a lot of page flipping too but that's pretty standard. Great music.

To experience a different culture (which of course I have through other reads), but also knowing about the Cherry Blossom and how it came to be saved was a brilliant experience.The story starts in 1907, when Collingwood “Cherry” Ingram fell in love with the sakura or the cherry tree, as he was visiting Japan on his honeymoon. He was taken in with the tree to such an extent that he couldn’t help but bring back hundreds of cuttings back to England, where he literally grew them, creating a garden of cherry varieties. In fact, in 1926 when he learned that the cherry tree was extinct in Japan, he sent a cutting of his own through the Trans-Siberian express. Not only that, Ingram also ensured that cuttings were sent to other parts of the world, where it was conducive to grow the specimen.This in short is what the book is about. However, there is so much more to it. Abe writes elegantly, and not only that – the research is spot on – with photographs, details, linking of other events, and personal perspectives. At times, I also felt that I was actually reading a historical novel, it is so well-written.The Sakura Obsession is what it is because Abe understands Ingram’s motivations, his complex nature – the oddity and the gentleness and that’s what makes this book so unique and refreshing. The Sakura Obsession tells a story that most people aren’t aware of – of how it took one man to save blossoms people enjoy over the world and are in awe of. I am only too glad that I got out of my comfort zone and read this one.

there are not many children's books that celebrate jazz, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this book for sale. I play jazz music (parker, monk, coleman, coltrane, etc) for my daughter and I hope she will at least appreciate jazz if not love it when she is older. The book reads somewhat like a jazz rift with lots of sounds and perceptions. My daughter is only 5 months old but she smiles and swings her arms with delight as I read this to her. you definitely have to act out the sounds to get the full effect of the book. get this book for your little one!

This book was in good condition. I will share this book with children and let them listen to Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie's BeBop esp. the track Groovin' High.

I purchased this book because I remembered seeing it on "Between The Lions" when I was a kid. I love the way it was read with a jazzy feel. My toddler digs it as much as me and is one of the few books I can read three times in a row and I don't mind one more time. For anyone who loves music or just a fun read this is a win!

My daughter is 21 months old. I have been reading her Charlie Parker Played Be Bop for about 3 months now and it is one of her favorite books. She actually asks to be read it, "Mommy, Parker please...Be BOP!"It is fun to read and the pictures are fun. You may even find yourself singing, "Alphabet, Alphabet, Alphabet, Alph" while walking to work.You'll love reading it and your child will love hearing it.

Awesome book and the library binding was very nice. It will make this, one of our family's favorite books, last a long time. Highly recommended!This was my son's favorite book when he was little. (Now he's a huge Charlie Parker fan.) His younger sisters weren't terribly interested in the book -- until I read it to them. Now they too can recite it from memory. It's great!

My kids LOVE this book. It has been their absolute favorite since they were 2 and it is short enough to read over and over again before bed. This book explores the rhythm and sounds of language in a way that really excites the kids and is fun for the adults to read.

I have given this book as a gift multiple times. I love the rhythm of the text and the drawings.
